Quickie by James Patterson

I got this book at the same time as the other Patterson book. It was much better to listen to a Patterson novel than to actually read it.

The reader, Mary Stuart Masterson, was great... so much so that I've thought about looking up other books she's recorded.

All in all, a pretty fast-paced, interesting plot.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

Written from multiple viewpoints, this book tells the story of a selective mute, Callie, and the events that unfold when her and her best friend are found to be missing.

It was definitely interesting and an easy read, but it's written from the perspective of so many characters that it was hard to feel like I really got to know them.

That being said, there was something I liked about the rhythm and voice of the author, something familiar about it, and I would probably read more of her writing if it came out!

Ham Bones by Carolyn Haines

I actually listened to this book... thanks to the audio book selection at my local library!

It wasn't a book I'll reread, but it was entertaining enough. It was frustrating to figure out the ending by about half way through, though.

The recording was pretty good, though. Audio books can sometimes be extremely annoying, but this one was fine. The reader didn't distract from the story at all.

I've listened to around 20 audio books in the last several months due to to my daughter being impossible to put to sleep at night. We've cracked down on her falling asleep on her own, but she still needs around thirty minutes a night of soothing to fall asleep on her own (it used to be two hours!).

If your child has a hard time falling asleep (and you're a parent who thinks it's okay to give your kids a little soothing and love before bedtime) then listening to audio books from your library is a great way to keep your sanity!

Swimsuit by James Patterson

Um... I'm embarrassed that I got this from the library.

Actually, my two-year-old little girl picked it up off the shelf and put it in my bag. Which, you can choose to believe or not.

I can't pass the blame off to her for actually reading it, though.

It was suspenseful, but pretty gruesome. My first Patterson read, I was amazed at how short the chapters were! I guess it was okay, but I won't remember it in another week.
